I decided to take a free walking tour of Sydney with Free Tours Sydney. They run tours every day at 10:30am. Why did I choose the orange shirt instead of green (I’m free tours) I don’t really know. From the web it seemed that the orange shirts (Free Tours Sydney) showed you more.
So at 10:30 am with the bells of St Mary’s Cathedral ringing and then St James’ we set off from the Archibald Statue in Hyde Park down Macquarie Street. I had seen most of the sites before but never really looked at them properly.
We saw the Hyde Park Barracks, the hospital, Parliament and the library. The guide explained the background of the buildings and also the people who built them.
I was able to see the Koalas on a building and the explorers on the Department of Land building.
The guide took us around Circular Quay and the Rocks. The guide was amazing and the places as usual were stunning.
The guide gave suggestions on where to go afterwards and how to get there.
It was an amazing way to see the city and different things like Customs House has a 3D model of Sydney with all the buildings.
It was a good 3 hour walk and I recommend it for all tourists (hometown or not)!
P.s. Rotorua, My Brother’s weekend, Mum’s Weekend, Tongariro National Park
